There was only one real chance for the Green Bay Packers to take the podium at the NFL Honors ceremony on the eve of Super Bowl 50, that chance came through.
The Packers were honored on Saturday night by winning the NFL's Play of the Year award. The play in question was of course Aaron Rodgers' hail mary heave to Richard Rodgers, which was the final play and the winning score in Green Bay's week 13 game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field:
2015 Play of the Year?

Four words: Aaron. Rodgers. Hail. Mary. #NFLHonors https://t.co/rOnDM0m4Yi
That play beat out 31 others, including Micah Hyde's backhanded interception in week 17 against the Vikings, to earn the honor. The Packers actually took two of the top three spots in the best plays countdown aired during the Honors ceremony, as Hyde's interception was ranked #3.
Of course, Rodgers would repeat his hail mary feat a few weeks later, completing a game-tying pass to Jeff Janis in the Divisional Round of the playoffs against the Arizona Cardinals.
This is the second time in the past three years that an Aaron Rodgers pass won Play of the Year. Winning the award for the 2013 season was his game-winning touchdown pass to Randall Cobb, which clinched the NFC North title in the Packers' week 17 game against the Chicago Bears.
