APC examines the one addition among Green Bay's specialists.

As Acme Packing Company continues its look at the Green Bay Packers' 90-man roster, we move from examining the returning special teams skill spots to those who joined the roster during the offseason.

Only one player, Peter Mortell, was added to the roster. Let's take a look at Green Bay's very own.

#1: Peter Mortell, P

5'11", 203 lbs
School:  Minnesota

2015 stats: 74 punts, 43.4 ave

Packer brass obviously felt some preseason competition for incumbent punter Tim Masthay would be good. Hometown boy Peter Mortell was signed on May 6 to give Green Bay its only competition at the specialist positions.

Mortell, 23, was the University of Minnesota's primary punter for the last three seasons. He averaged 43.4 yards per punt in 2015, and 44.0 over 203 punts. His 44.0 average is tops in Gopher history. Mortell, a Green Bay native, ended his career at Minnesota with 63 punts over 50 yards, and six of those punts bested 60 yards. In 2014, he was named the Eddleman-Fields Big Ten Punter of the Year and he earned All-Big Ten first-team honors from the coaches and media. It should be interesting to see if Mortell can make a serious challenge to wrest away punting duties from the 6-year veteran Masthay.
