The Green Bay Packers unofficially begin their rookie minicamp on Thursday, as players are arriving at team facilities and are getting checked over medically. Players are also preparing paperwork and some will likely be signing their contracts - that goes for both undrafted free agents and the team's draft picks.
The first player reported to have signed today is fifth-round pick Trevor Davis, a wide receiver from California, whose signing was reported by ESPN's Rob Demovsky.
According to Over the Cap, Davis' draft slot (#163 overall) should result in the following base contract structure, based on the current Collective Bargaining Agreement:
- Signing Bonus: $227,176
- 2016: base salary $450,000; cap hit $506,794
- 2017: base salary $540,000; cap hit $596,794
- 2018: base salary $630,000; cap hit $686,794
- 2019: base salary $720,000; cap hit $776,794
Typically, contracts (especially those of late-round picks) stay very close to OTC's projections. Stay tuned as we keep you updated on any more signings throughout the weekend here at Acme Packing Company.
