With the first day of rookie minicamp upon us, the Green Bay Packers have finally announced their initial round of undrafted free agent signings. All of these players have been added to the 90-man roster prior to today's minicamp practice.
There are 19 players on the initial press release from the Packers, with one name that we at Acme Packing Company had not seen reported previously and 18 that we did know about. That means that three players whom had been reported earlier this week did not indeed receive contract offers for whatever reason.
Here are the newest Packers players:
- QB Joe Callahan, Wesley
- RB Don Jackson, Nevada
- WR Geronimo Allison, Illinois
- WR Dennis Parks, Rice
- WR Devonte Robinson, Utah State
- WR Herb Waters, Miami (FL)
- TE David Grinnage, NC State
- C Jacob Flores, Dartmouth
- OT Josh James, Caroll College
- DT Tyler Kuder, Idaho State
- DT Brian Price, UT-San Antonio
- OLB Reggie Gilbert, Arizona
- ILB Beniquez Brown, Mississippi State
- ILB Manoa Pikula, BYU
- CB Makinton Dorleant, Northern Iowa
- CB Josh Hawkins, East Carolina
- CB Randall Jette, UMass
- S Kentrell Brice, Louisiana Tech
- P Peter Mortell, Minnesota
Center Jacob Flores from Dartmouth is the only player who is a surprise on this list. The 6'3", 300 pound lineman played left tackle as a junior before earning All-Ivy League honors as a center in 2015.
The three players who have apparently not signed for some reason are the following: RB Brandon Burks (Troy), S Demond Smith (Georgia Tech), and CB Warren Gatewood (Alcorn State).
The Packers will have numerous other players in for minicamp on a tryout basis, and we will report that full list when it is announced.
