Packers 90-man roster preview: Hundley looks to develop behind Rodgers

As APC begins our look at Green Bay's offseason roster, we examine the quarterbacks who return from 2015.

Over the next two weeks, Acme Packing Company will break down the Green Bay Packers' 90-man roster (which technically sits at 88 players at the current time) to discuss each player and his chances of making the roster. We will break the roster down both by position and by players who are returning on existing contracts or who are new additions to the team this offseason.

The first position up for analysis is, as always, the quarterbacks. The Packers have three holdovers from last season - an MVP candidate, a young, promising backup, and an unknown commodity signed late in the season. Let's look at each of them in turn.

#12: Aaron Rodgers

6'2", 225 pounds

2015 Passing Stats: 16 starts, 347-572 (60.7%), 3,821 yards (6.7 Y/A), 31 TDs, 8 INTs, 92.7 passer rating

2015 Rushing Stats: 58 attempts, 344 yards, (5.9 Y/A), 1 TD

The two-time NFL MVP comes into 2016 on the heels of one of his least-successful seasons, as Rodgers set career-lows in completion percentage, yards per attempt, and passer rating, and finished with the worst touchdown percentage since his first year as a starter in 2008. Although Rodgers did manage to rack up his share of highlights with a pair of Hail Marys and some nifty work with his legs, he will certainly be looking for a bounce-back year to regain the MVP form that he displayed in 2014.

#7: Brett Hundley

6'3", 226 pounds

2015 Stats: None

Hundley spent 2015 on the 53-man roster, but was a gameday inactive every week as the third-string quarterback behind Rodgers and Scott Tolzien. With Tolzien moving on to Indianapolis, Hundley inherits the primary backup position behind Rodgers and will look to build on his very impressive preseason performance as a rookie. A full offseason in Mike McCarthy's quarterback school should only further his development.

#9: Ryan Williams

6'4", 215 pounds

2015 Stats: None

Williams was a very late addition to the roster in 2015, as he was signed to a reserve/futures contract on January 5th. The former University of Miami quarterback barely threw any passes in college, but much of that was due to injuries and circumstances outside of his control. He should have an outside shot at the active roster if the Packers feel it is worth keeping a third quarterback on the 53 in 2016.
