Packers tied with Seahawks & Patriots for best odds of making the 2016 NFL Playoffs

Surprise, surprise - after a 7-year streak of making the postseason, Green Bay is among the top favorites to make it there once again in 2016.

The Green Bay Packers are always one of bettors’ favorite NFL teams when they head to Las Vegas. Their over/unders and game lines usually reflect that people tend to put more money on the Packers’ success than many other teams’. Whether that is because of tremendous fan support or the team’s overall recent success on the field, it is a fact.

What is also a fact is that the Packers have made the playoffs each of the past seven seasons. Perhaps because of all of these factors, Vegas has made the Packers one of three teams that are tied for the best odds of making the postseason in 2016.

The Packers, Seahawks, and Patriots all have -500 (1/5) odds at the present time, according to Bovada. In betting terms, this means that a person would need to stake $500 in order to earn a return of $100.

By contrast, each team has +350 odds of missing the playoffs (7/2), meaning that a $100 bet will return $350.

Thanks in large part to the continuity on the roster and the coaching staff, as well as another infusion of young talent through the draft and several players returning from injury, it should be no surprise to see the Packers given such a strong chance of making the postseason. Currently, the Packers sit at +1000 (10/1) odds to win Super Bowl 51, the third-lowest odds behind (not coincidentally) the Seahawks (+800) and Patriots (+750).
