2016 Packers roster predictions: Green Bay sticks with the safeties they know

Acme Packing Company projects the Packers keep the same four safeties from last season.

Acme Packing Company's 2016 preview continues with a look at the Green Bay Packers' 53-man roster. Today, the focus shifts to the safeties, specifically which ones we expect to make the finalc ut.

On the roster

Starters: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Morgan Burnett

As though there was any doubt, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Morgan Burnett should start in the Packers' defense. Clinton-Dix could become the team's breakout defensive star in 2016 while Burnett provides a steadying presence in the secondary. Barring injury, Green Bay has one of the strongest starting safety tandems in the league.

Backups: Micah Hyde, Chris Banjo

Micah Hyde can expect to see the field plenty in 2016 even if he doesn't have a defined role. The Packers plan to use him in plenty of their sub packages covering tight ends, slot receivers. Meanwhile, Chris Banjo probably sees most of his playing time on special teams.

Missing the cut

Marwin Evans, Kentrell Brice, Jermaine Whitehead

Each member of this trio offers something, but with the Packers likely to carve out extra roster spots for offense this year, there doesn't appear to be room for a fifth safety. Still, each could compete for a spot on the practice squad.
