The Green Bay Packers have sat at 88 men on the 90-man roster for the past few days after releasing a pair of players on Monday. They increased that number by one on Thursday, as the team announced this morning - wide receiver Harvey Binford is the newest Packer and is practicing with the team today.
Binford is a graduate of Lindenwood College in Illinois, which has produced a single NFL draft pick in its history (Browns cornerback Pierre Desir). Binford spent 2015 in the Arena Football League, playing for the Philadelphia Soul; while there he racked up 24 receptions for 412 yards and seven touchdowns, and also played sparingly on defense where he accrued seven total tackles.
Binford now appears on the Packers’ online roster and is listed at 6 feet and 185 pounds. Unfortunately, Binford will be wearing number 13 for the Packers and not number 8200, which would be quite appropriate.
