As the Green Bay Packers make final preparations for their preseason game against the Oakland Raiders tonight, the big excitement in town is the return of Jordy Nelson off the PUP list and back to practice. Although Nelson will almost certainly sit out tonight's game, his return to the practice field will be a very welcome sight.

Meanwhile, a few of the Packers' rookies are looking to correct mistakes that they made in their debuts last week against the Browns. In particular, Jason Spriggs' mentality about improving his technique and his skills appears to be one that should suit him well this season and through his NFL career.

After tonight, the next game that will be played on the Lambeau Field turf will be the contest between the Wisconsin Badgers and LSU Tigers. That event is going to be one of the premiere events of college football's opening weekend, and it should be an exciting matchup of two excellent programs and two excellent fan bases.

Spriggs takes the position that everyone makes a mistake on every play, and that identifying and correcting those mistakes is crucial to success. Fackrell, on the other hand, knows that opposing linemen respect his speed, so he needs to develop an inside move.

Practice-ready: Jordy Nelson has time to reconnect with Aaron Rodgers - ESPN
Rodgers says he figures the two will need a few days to get back on the same page, but that they don't absolutely need reps in a preseason game. Three weeks from now they should be ready to go.

Rodgers has been the best-graded quarterback overall in the past decade, and his 2011 season was the best season of any quarterback in that time span. Josh Sitton earns an honorable mention at guard, just behind Logan Makins and Marshal Yanda.

McGinn: Packers have the depth to deal | Packersnews.com
Will Ted Thompson spin off a player or two for a draft pick when final cuts come around? He has only done so twice as the Packers' GM, but there is enough talent across the roster to do so and add some capital for next April.

Green and Bold: Door Is Open for Geronimo Allison | Cheesehead TV
No Janis means that the Packers need to find another receiver on the outside; it's possible that Jared Abbrederis is that guy, but Allison is bigger and has a more traditional frame for a perimeter receiver.

For Wisconsin Badgers fans making the drive up to Green Bay in a little over two weeks, you can camp out in front of Brown County Arena for GameDay, which will bring Super Bowl XXXI MVP Desmond Howard back to Green Bay.
