It has arrived - the final open practice of training camp for the Green Bay Packers. The team will conduct its final practice on Ray Nitschke Field for 2016 beginning at 11:45 AM Central today as Mike McCarthy and company prepare for the final preseason game on Thursday.
Also coming up are the two rounds of roster cuts. The first, the cut-down to 75, is this afternoon at 3 PM local time. The Packers made six cuts on Monday and by our count they are down to 82 players on the roster, meaning seven more roster transactions are coming up. If the team places center Corey Linsley on the reserve/PUP list as expected, that would leave six spots to be eliminated before the deadline this afternoon.
The second cut deadline is of course for the 53-man roster, and that ultimatum is for 3 PM Central on Saturday, September 3rd. While college football teams will be kicking off their seasons that day, hundreds of young NFL players will be holding their breath to find out if they make their teams.
For now, however, join APC as we follow along with the Packers’ last open practice of the summer. Enjoy!
