The Green Bay Packers had hoped that cornerback Sam Shields might clear the concussion protocol in time for Week 2, but it appears the star cornerback won’t return in time for the team’s divisional tilt with the Minnesota Vikings. On the latest injury report, the Packers list Shields as doubtful to play.
Shields suffered a concussion during the fourth quarter of Green Bay’s Week 1 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the fourth of his career. Prior to his latest concussion, the corner’s most recent such injury came last season. He missed four games as a result.
The rest of the injury report reveals no surprises. Rookie corner Josh Hawkins will miss his second consecutive game with hamstring trouble. Conversely, fifth-round receiver Trevor Davis could play despite a sore shoulder. The team lists him as questionable. Finally, Jeff Janis no longer appears on the injury report after fully participating in practice all week.
