The Green Bay Packers finally open up the regular season this weekend, with a date on the road against an AFC South opponent. The Jacksonville Jaguars host Green Bay in an early kickoff on Sunday, which might make you suspect that the broadcast will be limited to just areas near the two teams’ home territories.
However, there are a couple of factors which help to dictate that this week’s game will be broadcast to a much wider audience across the country. First, the Packers are a team with a national fan base; second, the Jaguars appear to be a young, exciting team; and third, there are few other early games on FOX with national appeal helps out-of-state fans this week. All of that combines to ensure that a large swath of the USA will be able to see the Packers-Jaguars contest on local television.
