The media schedule for the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine has changed slightly from previous years, but one thing that remains constant is the availability of NFL head coaches and general managers. As they do each year, most teams offer up both their head personnel and on-field decision-makers to the media.
For the Green Bay Packers, this traditionally marks the first time that general manager Ted Thompson speaks publicly since the end of the preseason prior.
This year, both Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy will be speaking on Wednesday, March 1st. According to an NFL press release, Thompson will take to the podium at 11:00 AM, while McCarthy will speak two hours later at 1:00.
Acme Packing Company’s Evan “Tex” Western will be in attendance to provide live updates from both press conferences.
In previous years, coaches and draft-eligible players would often give their media interviews simultaneously. Last year, this led to a hilarious moment during Thompson’s presser, when Glenn Gronkowski was announced over the PA system. However, this year’s schedules do not overlap, ensuring that team officials and players will not have to compete for media attention at the same time.
