We knew that the Green Bay Packers would not have the services of wide receiver Jordy Nelson in practice for most of this week. Head coach Mike McCarthy made that clear on Monday, when he said that Nelson would rehab during the week before having a chance to practice on Saturday, and that Saturday’s session would determine whether or not he will play on Sunday.
What we did not know is that another young wide receiver would show up on the injury report as well and join Nelson as a non-participant in practice on Wednesday.
That other player is Jeff Janis, who showed up on the report with a quad injury. Janis was a demon on special teams last Sunday against the Giants, making a handful of tackles that helped pin New York deep in their own territory.
If both Janis and Nelson would be unable to play, the Packers would be down to just three healthy wide receivers: Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Geronimo Allison. Thankfully for the team, Cobb was a full participant on Wednesday and appears to have had no setbacks to his injured ankle following his huge game on Sunday.
Also notable is the fact that running back Ty Montgomery is not even listed on the injury report. Based on that fact, there should be no question about his availability for Sunday, nor that of Christine Michael or fullback Aaron Ripkowski.
Here are the injury reports for both the Packers and Cowboys for Wednesday’s practice.
