Packers-Falcons Injury Report: Questionable tags all around for Green Bay’s wide receivers

You get a questionable status and YOU get a questionable status and YOU get a questionable status...

NFL: NFC Wild Card-New York Giants at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

One week ago today, the Green Bay Packers ruled wide receiver Jordy Nelson out for their Divisional Playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys. Nelson was still working through his broken ribs, suffered five days earlier, and clearly had not made enough progress to even have a chance to play 48 hours later.

This week, the story is a bit different today, even though Nelson might still be unable to go on Sunday. At least he has the potential of playing, as he was practicing on a limited basis on Wednesday and Thursday. Nelson came down with the flu on Friday, however, and would have been unable to work if the team had practiced, but still has a chance to make a return to the field on Saturday and potentially to game action a day later against the Atlanta Falcons.

Joining Nelson with Questionable statuses this week are fellow wide receivers Davante Adams, who has not yet practiced this week due to his ankle injury, and Geronimo Allison, in a similar position to Adams but with a hamstring issue. Both players will try to practice on Saturday, then will likely be game-time decisions on Sunday afternoon.

If the trio of receivers cannot play on Sunday, the Packers will need big performances from a pair of stars - Randall Cobb and Jared Cook - but also from some role players. Jeff Janis and Trevor Davis are the only other wideouts on the roster, and those two will almost certainly be active and take bigger roles on offense even if the injured receivers do play. We could even see running back Ty Montgomery taking snaps at receiver again in a pinch.

In addition, starting safety Morgan Burnett appears to be making some progress, as his status was estimated at limited for Friday (estimated because the Packers do not practice on Fridays). However, he refused to predict if he could play on Sunday. He also is questionable for the game, along with fellow defensive back Quinten Rollins.

The Falcons, on the other hand, had four players either missing or limited in practice at some point this week. However, each of those players was practicing on Friday, and none of the four have an injury status for the game, suggesting that they will have no issues playing on Sunday.
