Giants vs. Packers, Wild Card Playoffs: Game Updates & Discussion

New, comments

Tune in for the Wild Card game this afternoon as Green Bay tries to advance to the Divisional Round for the third straight season.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Today, the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants square off in a Wild Card game with a spot in the Divisional round on the line. The winner will advance to play the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday at AT&T Stadium, with the 3rd-seeded Seattle Seahawks already moving on to the next round.

The Packers come in on a six-game winning streak, running the table over the last month and a half of the season. Meanwhile, the Giants finished the season 9-2 over their last eleven games and 3-1 over the last month.

New York's defense has been the strength of the team all season long; they finished the regular season second in the NFL in points against and tenth in yards allowed. That ranking includes a third-place spot in rushing yards allowed, but just a ranking of 23rd in terms of passing yards against.

Still, the Packers expect a tough matchup today, but thankfully the weather conditions are not awful. Temperatures are expected to be around 12 or 13 degrees at kickoff, with winds around seven miles per hour.
