Although the injuries to Aaron Rodgers and the offensive line are well-publicized and heavily discussed, the Green Bay Packers’ defense is suffering from a multitude of injuries at the cornerback position. Three of the four corners who entered training camp atop the depth chart are hurt, with one (Quinten Rollins) out for the season and the others (Davon House and Kevin King) day-to-day.
These injuries forced the Packers to dig deep, giving Lenzy Pipkins a heavy workload on Sunday in Minnesota. Speculation has abounded that the team might add another corner onto the roster, but there is one player that has been almost completely forgotten in the discussion.
That name is Demetri Goodson, who remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Part of the reason for his flying under the radar is probably that he is overshadowed on that list by a certain former Badger linebacker with a great deal of local hype. However, as we’ll see in today’s Curds, Goodson also has a good chance to return to the field in short order and his presence would be at best a saving grace for a battered unit — or at worst, another warm body who has experience in the Packers’ defense.
Meanwhile, Packers rookie running back Aaron Jones has a fan in a certain former NFL running back, and he is drawing praise that exceeds that of several running backs who were drafted ahead of him in 2017.
Communication, flow and a few takeaways could help Brett Hundley - ESPN
It would be really great if the Packers' defense would be able to get some significant pressure on Drew Brees and get some turnovers. After all, the Packers' only touchdown on Sunday came after a fumble that Clay Matthews returned into the red zone.
Packers will soon return Vince Biegel, Demetri Goodson from PUP list | Packers Wire
We discussed Biegel's return earlier this week, but Goodson would probably have even more impact in the short term due to the multitude of injuries at the cornerback position.
