After a big NFC matchup on Thursday night last week, the team with the best record in the AFC plays early in week seven as the Kansas City Chiefs take the field on short rest. This week’s game is a divisional contest, pitting the Chiefs against Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders.
Following an impressive 2016 season, the Raiders have tailed off so far this year and are tied at the bottom of the AFC West, scoring fewer than 20 points in each of the last four games — all losses. Carr has missed some time with an injury, while Marshawn Lynch has hardly been the savior on the field that Raiders fans were hoping for. In fact, Lynch is averaging just 43 rushing yards per game and is under four yards per carry, a far cry from the numbers he put up in his heyday in Seattle.
Meanwhile, the Raiders’ receiving corps has disappointed, with Amari Cooper in particular failing to live up to the hype. He has caught fewer than 50% of his targets so far in 2017, and is averaging just 8.1 yards per reception.
Can Oakland break out of its offensive slump against a strong Chiefs defense? Tune in tonight to find out.
