Just when the Green Bay Packers appear to start making progress with their health on the offensive line, they are thrown another curveball. Tackles David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga were left off the Friday injury report for the Packers’ week seven game against the New Orleans Saints, a move which confirms that both players should play on Sunday.
This is great news for new starting quarterback Brett Hundley, who will at least be playing behind a line that will have its bookends. Guard Lane Taylor was assumed to be a long shot already, and that status was confirmed on Friday when he was listed as Doubtful for the game.
However, a surprise name popped up on the injury report: center Corey Linsley, who has probably been healthier this season than at any other point in his three-plus years in the NFL. Linsley has not missed a snap this season, but after not appearing on the practice injury report all week he is listed as Questionable with a back issue. Linsley’s practice status for Friday was Limited, although this was just an estimate as the Packers hold their final practice of the week on Saturday, not on Friday.
Linsley holds particular value this week with Hundley under center, as the team was expected to shift many of the protection calls and assignments from the quarterback (Aaron Rodgers) over to the line. As the center, Linsley would likely be the primary signal-caller before the snap.
Stay tuned for more updates on Linsley, who is joined by cornerbacks Davon House and Damarious Randall as being questionable for the game.
The Packers do have four players who have been ruled out for the game, including safety Morgan Burnett and of course quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, Rodgers was placed on injured reserve Friday afternoon, which will technically remove him from the report.
The Saints, meanwhile, have just two players listed on the report, and both are questionable after practicing on a limited basis all week.
Here are the full reports for this Sunday’s game.
