Aaron Rodgers says on ‘Conan’ that he had 13 screws installed in broken collarbone

The Packers QB broke that news this week to Conan O’Brien, of all people.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had surgery on his broken collarbone last Thursday, a few days after suffering the injury on a hit by Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr. However, Rodgers found some time while he was in California for surgery to meet up with and break some news to an unlikely person:

Conan O’Brien.

Rodgers will appear on Conan’s show on Thursday, October 26th as part of the “Clueless Gamer” segment, and on Wednesday Conan previewed the upcoming feature on his show.

There’s a particularly notable nugget of news in the preview, as Rodgers discusses his surgery. Check out the video here, with Rodgers’ appearance starting at the 1:20 mark:

In the video, Rodgers reveals that he had 13 screws placed in his shoulder during the surgery: “I’m good now. 13 screws later and here I am.”

In the setup to the clip, Conan joked with sidekick Andy Richter that Rodgers postponed his surgery in order to play video games with him. However, given Rodgers’ comments that certainly appears to be the two comedians exaggerating. In all likelihood, this segment was taped after his surgery.

The full segment airs on Thursday’s show on TBS, starting at 11:00 PM Eastern/10:00 Central.

UPDATE: Take Rodgers’ comment with a grain of salt. It’s difficult to tell if he was being serious, especially after his comment to ESPN’s Jason Wilde on Thursday:
