Cross-conference matchups are always an odd fit for Thursday Night Football, but here we are with one such game on this evening. Tonight, the New England Patriots and their league-worst defense have traveled South to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their every-fourth-year matchup.
The last time these teams played, New England earned a 23-3 victory thanks to two touchdown passes from Tom Brady to Kenbrell Thompkins. That game moved the Patriots to 3-0 in the early part of the 2013 season, while Tampa Bay dropped to 0-3. That postseason saw the Patriots fall in Denver in the AFC Championship Game, while the Buccaneers finished 4-12 and got head coach Greg Schiano fired.
