The Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys both faced the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs last January, with the Packers knocking off the Cowboys in a thriller before losing in Atlanta in the NFC Championship. Those two NFC contenders square off this afternoon, with both fighting hard for position in the conference’s Wild Card race.
Likewise, both teams hosted the Packers earlier this season as well, with similar results — Atlanta won by double-digits while Aaron Rodgers led a furious comeback victory in Dallas.
However, Atlanta is a disappointing 4-4 overall this season, having lost four of five after a hot 3-0 start. The offense has been particularly disappointing in those last five games, averaging just 16.6 points per game and exceeding 250 passing yards in just one of those contests.
Dallas appears to be on the upswing, however; featuring the league’s top rushing attack in yards per carry, Dallas has ripped off three straight wins, all with over 130 yards on the ground. In fact, the Cowboys had a four-game stretch from week 4 to week 8 when they had more than 160 yards rushing in each game.
The two teams face off in the big late afternoon game today, one of 12 NFL games taking place on this week ten Sunday. Here’s your schedule and open thread for today.
