The Green Bay Packers’ injury woes continued on Sunday. Outside linebacker Clay Matthews left in the second quarter with a groin injury. The team initially listed Matthews as questionable, but have subsequently ruled him out for the remainder of the game.
Prior to departing with his injury, Matthews managed some pressure and a sack. That sack was his first sack since Week 4 against the Chicago Bears. The Packers have given no indication of the full severity of Matthews injury, though that could come as soon as the post-game presser.
Injuries to the groin, calf, and hamstring have kept Matthews out of many games over his time in Green Bay. Matthews has started each game this season and registered at least one tackle in each game. The sack today was the only tackle on Matthews tally for the day.
Kyler Fackrell received the majority of snaps at Matthews’ vacated spot. Fackrell took advantage by registering his first sack of the season. Vince Biegel also got involved in a sack with Dean Lowry.
