While the Green Bay Packers are dealing with their own injuries, the Carolina Panthers actually have a report that rivals that of the Green and Gold this week. Carolina has four players on this week’s report, but three of those individuals are starters and two have been ruled out entirely for Sunday’s game.
The biggest player on the Carolina report — both physically and in terms of the impact his injury will have on the team — is right guard Trai Turner, who made the Pro Bowl in 2016. Turner has been ruled out for Sunday’s game due to a concussion and will be replaced by Amini Silatolu. Turner’s absence will be a big one, though Silatolu is a veteran who was a starter for most of his first few years in the NFL.
Another key player out for Carolina is linebacker Shaq Thompson, the team’s first-round draft pick in 2015. Thompson, the starting strong-side linebacker, has been a starter since his arrival from the University of Washington, but this will be the second consecutive game he will miss with a foot injury.
The other starter on Carolina’s report is wideout Devin Funchess, the team’s top receiver. However, Funchess is expected to play despite a shoulder issue. He has sat out Friday practices the past few weeks but has still been suiting up on Sundays, and this week should be no different.
