The Green Bay Packers made two related roster moves on the eve of their Week 16 divisional matchup. On Friday, the team placed cornerback Demetri Goodson on injured reserve and filled his spot by promoting outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert from the practice squad.
Goodson, who spent most of the season on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from a significant knee injury, rejoined the Packers' 53-man roster earlier this month. However, a hamstring issue set back his progress and forced the team to end his season. Goodson never appeared in a game in 2017.
The Packers promoted Gilbert in part due to injuries along the defensive front. Outside linebacker Nick Perry looks likely to miss Saturday's game with ankle and shoulder injuries while Clay Matthews has a nagging hamstring issue that could also keep him on the sidelines. Gilbert originally arrived in Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2016.
Gilbert could see his first regular-season action tonight.
