Packers at the Scouting Combine: WRs typically perform well in 3-cone drill

Green Bay’s front office appears to prioritize size and 3-cone time among their current crop of wideouts.

NFL: Combine Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

As we continue our look at the Green Bay Packers and their performances in past NFL Scouting Combines, we shift our focus over to the wide receivers. The Packers are currently carrying eight players on the roster, seven of whom were invited to the Combine during their draft years.

Although the Packers have receivers with a range of body types, one thing has become clearer in recent years: the team is definitely focused on adding size. The Packers haven’t drafted a receiver shorter than 6’1” since Randall Cobb in 2011, and most of the players signed as undrafted free agents are over 6 feet tall

Another trend you’ll see here is that the Packers prioritize good performances in the 3-cone drill. There are a few elite-level times in here — Jeff Janis’ 6.64 and Trevor Davis’ 6.60 — along with several other good times near 7 seconds. (Former Packers receiver Jared Abbrederis also had a very good time in 2014, running a 6.80) Only one wideout ran that drill in more than a 7.10: Geronimo Allison.

Here’s a look back at the Combine workouts for these receivers.
