Video: Packers head coach Mike McCarthy’s Combine press conference

Watch the Packers head man’s comments to the national media from Wednesday’s Combine session.

Two hours after his team’s general manager took the podium on Wednesday morning, Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy did the same at the NFL Scouting Combine. In a ten-minute session, McCarthy addressed a number of topics, including his past history.

I tried to get an explanation from McCarthy about the “offensive perimeter coach” title that he gave to assistant David Raih, but all we know after his response is that Raih has some broader responsibilities than his previous title of offensive line assistant. Raih will be working with McCarthy and offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett, plus several of the team’s “perimeter coaches.”

How’s that for a cloudy answer to the question?

My interpretation is that this means that Raih is gearing up to be sort of an assistant offensive coordinator, and that he will have his hands and influence on several different positions, from the wide receivers to the tight ends to possibly the offensive line. However, we still don’t have any real clear idea what his role will be.

Check out the video below and stay tuned for a recap of some of McCarthy’s comments from his later discussions with Packers media, which will be coming up soon.
