While most of Green Bay Packers fans’ attention over the last few days has been focused heavily on Nick Perry, T.J. Lang, and Jared Cook, news about one other Packer free agent has remained quiet. Or at least it was until Thursday evening.
That player is running back Eddie Lacy, and now that the “stupid money” phase of free agency has wound down, a handful of NFL teams are looking at Lacy to round out their backfields. According to Lacy’s agents, he will be holding visits with a few teams over the next few days, mentioning three specifically: the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Green Bay Packers.
Although his visits in Seattle and Minnesota are likely to be focused heavily on getting to know those franchises and their front offices and coaching staffs, that is not a necessity in Green Bay. Instead, that meeting will likely consist primarily of medical checkups on Lacy’s injured ankle, which he has been rehabilitating since he went on injured reserve following the Packers’ week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
As yet, no figures have been reported about a potential contract for Lacy, and the health of his ankle should function prominently in determining his value. The Seahawks are also courting guard T.J. Lang, who is visiting them on Friday.
Stay tuned over the next several days, as we hope to learn more about Lacy’s potential destination.
