The 2017 NFL Draft kicks off in less than two weeks. Accordingly, misinformation and legitimate reports become even harder to distinguish from one another. That has made SB Nation draft guru Dan Kadar's job even harder to perform, as he must sift through the garbage to figure out what each team aims to do on April 27.
With that in mind, Kadar has released his latest mock draft Monday. In it, he projects the Green Bay Packers adding another former member of the Alabama Crimson Tide to pair with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, cornerback Marlon Humphrey.
Here is how Kadar explained the selection:
29. Green Bay Packers: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama
Speaking of needing cornerback help, that’s certainly the case in Green Bay where some high picks at the position just haven’t panned out. Humphrey, who has good physical size and athleticism, could be the solution.
The Packers certainly could use a boost in the secondary after seeing former first- and second-round picks Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins struggle through much of last year. While both could potentially bounce back for better 2017 seasons, it seems unrealistic to expect rebounds from both. Furthermore, with Sam Shields officially out of the picture, the team needs a player that can eventually step into the No. 1 corner role. Humphrey, with his size and movement skills, could fill that role in time.
