In 2009, the Green Bay Packers signed a young defensive lineman named Dean Muhtadi as an undrafted rookie free agent. He made it through all of the summer and training camp but was one of the team’s final cuts prior to that season.
Muhtadi is now making his living as a WWE wrestler, but he looks back fondly on his experience in Green Bay. In late 2016, Muhtadi told USA Today Sports “My opportunity with Green Bay was essentially a springboard for the rest of my life.”
Things are going well for Muhtadi, who wrestles under the name Mojo Rawley. On Sunday night, he was the winner of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, which was part of the kickoff event for Wrestlemania 33.
Congratulations to Dean/Mojo on his victory, and best of luck to him in his wrestling career!
Wrestling fans should head over to SB Nation’s Cageside Seats blog for everything Wrestlemania-related throughout tonight’s event.
