Each year, thousands of individuals who own shares of the Green Bay Packers organization gather at Lambeau Field to listen to presentations from the team’s operations staff, board of directors, and front office. This year is no different, as the only publicly-owned NFL team holds its Shareholders Meeting inside the bowl at 1265 Lombardi Avenue.
On Thursday afternoon, the Packers announced the date of this year’s meeting: Monday, July 24th, starting at 11:00 AM Central Time.
A Monday is an unusual choice for this meeting, as the last few iterations have been held on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The 2016 meeting was held on Thursday, July 21st, due in part to the Packers opening up training camp early because they were scheduled to play in the Hall of Fame Game.
In fact, the Packers traditionally schedule the meeting to be held just before the start of camp, and the 7/24 date suggests that the team will open up camp that week, with players reporting as soon as the 25th.
Here is an excerpt from the press release sent out by the Packers today to shareholders, discussing the meeting:
With this year's meeting on a Monday, shareholders are welcome to spend the weekend in Green Bay, with the Packers Hall of Fame, Packers Pro Shop and 1919 Kitchen & Tap open for visitors, and a variety of stadium tours offered. As the weekend nears, please note Lambeau Field Atrium hours of operation on http://www.packers.com/.
Those in Green Bay for the meeting can also find plenty of events and things to do in the area at the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau website, https://www.greenbay.com/.
