Jay Cutler joins FOX NFL broadcast team, could call Packers-Bears in Week 10

It seems Cutler’s days of throwing picks are over, as he is following Tony Romo by trading in the helmet for a headset.

There’s something about washed-up quarterbacks joining the media this year.

A few weeks after Tony Romo retired from the NFL to join CBS’ top NFL broadcast pairing with Jim Nantz, former Broncos and Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is apparently leaving for a job with FOX’s Sunday NFL coverage:

Cutler had trouble finding a job after being released by the Bears this offseason, and after a few of his possible destinations (most notably the Houston Texans) landed quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft. Still, he reportedly had productive discussions with the Jets but elected to leave for the media instead. With no new contract likely on the horizon, Cutler now joins FOX’s second- or third-team broadcast grouping, and will be calling games on Sundays this fall.

He might even have a chance to call a Packers-Bears game this year, as the two teams play at Soldier Field on FOX in week 10. That contest, a 12 Noon kickoff, will likely not get the top broadcast pair of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, as the Dallas Cowboys/Atlanta Falcons game is likely to be the biggest draw.

So if you’re forced to pick between either Joe Buck and Troy Aikman or Jay Cutler on the call of a Packers game, which would it be?
