The annual Family Night practice marks the first time the Green Bay Packers appear at Lambeau Field. On Thursday, the team announced that the 2017 edition will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5.
For years, Family Night included practice sessions, kicking competitions, and more notably a near-full contact scrimmage (quarterbacks remained in the red no-contact jerseys). However, perhaps as a result of significant injuries such as offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga's ACL tear in 2013, Green Bay no longer conducts the scrimmage, instead giving fans the chance to witness an extended practice.
Still, for the fans that cannot make the trip to Lambeau Field during the season for whatever reason, Family Night has long provided the chance to see the Packers in their home stadium. The team also treats fans to a fireworks show at the conclusion of the event.
Tickets go on sale July 28 at 10 a.m. CT with parking sales benefitting the Wendy's Wonderful Kids program.
