Packers vs. Eagles, Preseason Week 1: First half game updates & discussion thread

FOOTBALL IS BACK! Join APC in our open thread here to discuss the first preseason game of the year.

NFL: Preseason-Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The rain storms have come and gone, leaving moderate temperatures and a dry evening in their wake. It is time for football.

Tonight, the Green Bay Packers begin their quest for a 14th NFL title as they host the Philadelphia Eagles in the teams’ first game of the 2017 preseason. The Packers’ 2016 season was one of cold and hot streaks, but it ended in disappointment and a loss in the NFC Championship Game to the Atlanta Falcons. The Eagles enter after finishing last in the NFC East at 7-9 last year, a disappointment after the team’s hot 3-0 start.

Don’t expect to see many of the Packers’ starters tonight for more than a series or two, and when you tune in, be aware that Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson probably will not play at all. Those two, along with a handful of other veterans, are unlikely to suit up tonight as the team works its younger players and those on the roster bubble into the mix for player evaluation purposes.
