The Green Bay Packers might have taken their first major injury blow of the 2017 season. Cornerback Damarious Randall left the preseason opener during the first quarter after the team decided to evaluate him for a possible concussion.
Randall didn't start the for Green Bay on Thursday, but he still played during the first defensive series. However, he came up slowly after a tackle and almost immediately headed to the sideline. The medical staff soon after led the cornerback to the cart and took him back to the locker room.
With the considerable competition among the cornerbacks during training camp, Randall would have likely received extended action Thursday night. In the short run, Kevin King has seen a little more action with the No. 1 defense than he might have otherwise received. Green Bay also lined up Josh Jones in Randall's vacated spot before moving him around.
The Packers may not disclose Randall's diagnosis on Thursday. If they do, a reveal could come during the post-game press conference.
