Packers release DE Shaneil Jenkins after two days on the roster

That didn’t take long.

NFL: NFC Divisional-Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers claimed defensive end Shaneil Jenkins off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks. The athletic lineman seemed a good candidate to come into Green Bay and compete for a spot on the practice squad.

He made it approximately 48 hours before being released.

The Packers announced Jenkins’ release on Tuesday morning prior to practice. With no corresponding roster move, there is now a single open spot on the 90-man roster. No specific reason was given, but Jenkins is now on the market for the second time this week.

Jenkins presumably made it through just a single practice with the team, held on Sunday in private.

The team is scheduled to hold a public practice at 12:15 PM on Tuesday, followed by another public practice on Wednesday at 11:45 AM.
