Fresh off the signing of his new contract, the last thing Nick Perry wanted was an injury before he could start proving the Packers right for bringing him back.
Unfortunately, that happened tonight against the Denver Broncos as the outside linebacker went down with an apparent ankle injury.
Perry stayed down for awhile but was able to walk off under his own power.
Given how thin the Packers are at outside linebacker, losing Perry for an extended period of time would be a brutal loss for the Green Bay defense. There isn’t much behind Perry and Clay Matthews, with the talented but raw Jayrone Elliott waiting in the wings and not much else. The Packers need their former first round pick to remain healthy.
When you also consider Perry’s past injury troubles, one also has to hope this won't be the kind of injury that will nag him all season long. Perry’s preseason is likely over regardless and depending on the severity of the injury, it could also put his status for the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks in question.
