As a rookie working through his first preseason in 2015, Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Hundley took the NFL by storm. He led the league that preseason in several passing statistics, giving Packers fans confidence in his ability to be a great backup to Aaron Rodgers.
Although he spent his rookie year as the 3rd QB behind Rodgers and Scott Tolzien, then saw last summer mostly become a waste due to injuries, Hundley is back this year and looking to prove that he deserves a shot to be an NFL starter someday. Of course, with Rodgers talking about playing into his 40s, that opportunity likely will not come about for Hundley in Green Bay.
Thus, the speculation of trading Hundley for draft assets, either this summer or after the season, will continue until either it happens or the 2018 NFL Draft has come and gone. However, with NFL teams desperate for quality quarterback play — and injuries starting to strike in training camp — perhaps there will be an opportunity for GM Ted Thompson to take some phone calls about Hundley this summer after all.
The latest QB injury to hit the league came yesterday, as Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill went down with a non-contact knee injury. Check out that in today’s quarterback-focused Curds, along with examinations of Hundley and his mentor.
