After releasing LaDarius Gunter and Ricky Jean Francois Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers have brought their roster back up to 53. In addition to bringing back Geronimo Allison from suspension, the team has signed offensive lineman Adam Pankey off its practice squad. Former Philadelphia Eagles guard Darrell Greene replaces Pankey on the practice squad.
Pankey, a 6-foot-5, 313-pound product of West Virginia, joined the Packers earlier this year as an undrafted free agent. Pankey failed to secure a spot on the Week 1 roster, but the team decided to retain him on the practice squad after he cleared waivers.
It remains unclear why the Packers severed ties with two players rather than one this week, but the status of right tackle Bryan Bulaga (ankle) and backup lineman Jason Spriggs (hamstring) may have played a role.
With Pankey in tow, the Packers now have 10 offensive linemen on the roster, most of any position group.
