This evening, the Green Bay Packers face the Atlanta Falcons in a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game. The two teams are expected to be among the top contenders in the conference once again this season, and the prime-time matchup appears to be a great one for fans of both teams and the NFL in general.
However, shortly before game time, the Packers announced roster moves that will put a bit of a damper on the optimism of the team’s fans. Both starting tackles — David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga — are inactive for tonight’s contest. Combined with the injury to Jason Spriggs, that leaves the Packers starting second-year pro Kyle Murphy and either undrafted rookie Adam Pankey or first-year pro Justin McCray at the tackle positions.
With reigning NFL sack leader Vic Beasley awaiting on the other side, the Packers’ game plan will likely be changed significantly from their normal offense.
