On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers host the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau Field for a week three matchup. The Packers have been dealing with a massive quantity of injuries, many of them coming during the team’s most recent game, a loss to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday night.
On Friday, the Packers ruled seven players as Doubtful for this week’s game, crediting them each with a slim chance to play depending on their ability to practice on Saturday and their status on Sunday morning. Six of those seven players are starters, with a seventh playing a key backup and special teams role.
Unfortunately, all seven of those players are indeed inactive for today’s game. This means that more than one-quarter of the team’s starting lineup on offense and defense is down for today’s game. Nick Perry is one of the players missing today’s game, though he will be replaced by Ahmad Brooks, who is active and ready to go following a concussion he suffered in week one. Likewise, wide receiver Randall Cobb will sit, necessitating some shuffling on offense regarding who will line up in the slot today.
However, notable is that two injured starters — offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga and wide receiver Jordy Nelson — are playing. Nelson will almost certainly take some of Cobb’s snaps in the slot, while Bulaga’s return means that the Packers will only have to start one young offensive tackle. That player is Kyle Murphy, who will slot in for David Bakhtiari on the left side.
Here’s the Packers’ full inactive list for this afternoon’s game.
