Cheese Curds, 9/5: Packers’ new additions settle in at practice

New, comments

Ahmad Brooks and Chris Odom will play a big part in the Packers’ success this season.

NFL: San Francisco 49ers-Training Camp Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers added two players to their roster following final cuts on Saturday: Ahmad Brooks, who finally signed his long-awaited contract, and Chris Odom, a rookie pass-rusher who flashed in the preseason for the Atlanta Falcons. These two individuals will be expected to contribute immediately in the Packers’ pass rush, and for Odom, likely on special teams as well.

It’s a tough road trying to familiarize yourself in with a new team after spending an entire offseason and training camp with another, but that’s what Odom is doing. For Brooks, however, who spent the last eight seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, there are more significant challenges, including uprooting his home. Still, both appear excited to begin their Packers careers and to hopefully establish themselves as productive players.

While those two players practiced in green and gold for the first time on Monday, the Packers’ roster as a whole appears to be in good shape leading up to Sunday’s season opener. Check out today’s curds for news on the new additions and the injury report from Monday.
