The Green Bay Packers went into the final week of the 2017 NFL season sitting in a tie with Washington for the 14th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Packers’ loss to the Lions ensured that they would finish with a 7-9 record, and the results of the week mean that the Packers are now officially locked into pick number 14 in April.
Washington lost as well, but due to some tiebreaker magic, they will have the better pick. Both teams finished with an equal strength of schedule, meaning that the next tiebreaker is record against common opponents. Washington’s record there is worse than the Packers’, meaning that they will pick first.
The Packers did pick up one spot, however, thanks to the Arizona Cardinals’ victory over the Seattle Seahawks. That moved Arizona up to 8-8 on the season, pushing them beneath the Packers in the draft order in 15th position.
