Monday Night Football, Week 7: Giants and Falcons try to get back in contention

A pair of scuffling teams look to climb back towards respectability on Monday night.

In 2017, the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants were trending in very different directions. Atlanta was coming off a Super Bowl appearance and made the playoffs as a Wild Card; the Giants however, took a nosedive and fell from 11-5 and a playoff appearance the year before to 3-13 a year ago and holding the second overall pick in the draft.

This season, however, both are sitting at the bottom of their respective divisions. Atlanta comes into Monday night’s game at 2-4 after seeing its roster be ravaged by injuries to key players. Starters Devonta Freeman, Keanu Neal, Ricardo Allen, Deion Jones, and Andy Levitre are all on injured reserve, with several more players banged up this week.

The Giants, meanwhile, are 1-5 with new head coach Pat Shurmur at the helm. Rookie running back Saquon Barkley has been good, but he isn’t the problem; the team sits in the bottom six of the NFL in both points scored and points allowed.

If you dare, tune in for tonight’s game and follow along with us here at APC.
