The NFL’s trade deadline is officially just hours away, and we have finally seen our first trade of the day reported. Keep your browsers locked here for any news about trades all across the NFL today.
Trades must be submitted to the NFL’s offices by the end of the October 30th league day; that means that the deadline is 4:00 PM Eastern Time.

The report comes from Ian Rapoport, who says that Thomas goes to Houston for a mid-round draft pick. This makes sense for Houston — they just saw Will Fuller go down with a torn ACL on Thursday, and Thomas gives them a good veteran presence opposite DeAndre Hopkins. Follow-up reporting puts the draft pick compensation as a fourth-round selection.
It’s “trade all the receivers day,” apparently. Adam Schefter reports that Golden Tate is heading to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a third-round draft pick. This leaves the Lions with essentially a two-man receiving corps consisting of Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay, while Tate will play in the slot in Philly with Alshon Jeffery likely flanking him.
Green Bay has reportedly found a suitor for Montgomery - the Baltimore Ravens, according to Ian Rapoport. The Packers pick up a 2020 seventh-round draft pick in the deal.
This comes down to the wire at the deadline, as the Rams pick up some help on the edge to supplement their strong interior defensive line. (Adam Schefter had it first.) Tom Pelissero reports that the Rams will send next year’s 3rd-round draft pick and a 2020 5th-rounder in the deal. Rapoport noted that the Packers were one of a few teams who had been expressing interest in Fowler, but presumably were not willing to match the Rams’ offer.
The Packers are reportedly picking up a fourth-round pick in the deal from Washington in next year’s draft, but this leaves the team with some major questions about their depth at safety.
Ty Montgomery is on the trading block
Rapoport reported on NFL Network just after 1:00 PM ET (h/t to Doug Farrar) that the Packers have made Montgomery available after his kickoff return miscue on Sunday in LA. Montgomery was one of the five players we speculated about being potential trade options earlier today.
