The Green Bay Packers have defeated the Seattle Seahawks each of the last three times the two teams have played. Leading into tonight’s game between the two teams, that would seem to be an encouraging sign for the Green and Gold.
But each of those three games have come at Lambeau Field. Not since the 2014 NFC Championship Game have the two franchises met at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. That game and that venue, of course, were the setting for the Packers’ most painful overtime playoff loss in the Aaron Rodgers era — and unfortunately there are several to choose from.
The fact that the NFL put this game on a Thursday night is a bit of a disservice to this rivalry, which has picked up steam since a certain 2012 meeting that involved replacement referees. Instead of two teams on normal rest jockeying for position in the crowded middle of the NFC, fans get to watch comparatively depleted rosters thanks to a short week.
Still, it’s Packers football, and the chance to finally get a win in Seattle should have the team and its fans excited. FOllow along with tonight’s game here, and Go Pack Go!
