Monday Night Football, Week 11: Get the popcorn ready for Chiefs-Rams

One of the best matchups of the year happens tonight, so expect some offensive fireworks.

Not long ago, the Chiefs and Rams were in cities on opposite ends of the same state. One team in Kansas City, the other in St. Louis, but both still in Missouri. Then the Rams packed up and moved back to Los Angeles, where they were born, leaving the Show-Me State with just a single NFL team.

Tonight, however, NFL fans by and large won’t be thinking about that storyline. Instead, they’ll be focused on watching two of the NFL’s most explosive offenses, led by excellent and innovative offensive minds and great young quarterbacks.

On one sideline, it’s Sean McVay and Jared Goff leading the Rams to a 9-1 record. Todd Gurley and the running game have been a huge part of LA’s hot start as well, but the team’s 8.6 net yards per attempt (which takes into account yardage lost to sacks) ranks #1 in the NFL.

On the opposite side of the field are Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, who rank third in that same NY/A stat and who average a tick more scoring, at 35.3 points per game to the Rams’ 33.5. Mahomes leads the NFL in touchdown passes with 31, he’s second in passer rating (just above Goff) and he’s third in passing yards (with six more than Goff).

Meanwhile, the Chiefs’ defense gives up the third-most yards to their opponents while the Rams rank closer to the middle of the pack. All told, this should be a phenomenal matchup and it’s a rare occasion that we see a pair of one-loss teams meeting up this late in the season.

Oh, and the game was moved from Mexico City back to the LA Coliseum this week due to poor field conditions at the planned venue. So how’s that for a little extra drama?

Tune in and enjoy the game!
