This is the Green Bay Packers’ season in a single 60-minute capsule. If the Packers want any hope of making the postseason in 2018, this week’s game is essentially a must-win.

Get a W and the Packers pull even with the Minnesota Vikings overall (at 5-5-1) and ahead of their purple rivals with a 1-0-1 head-to-head record. Lose and the Packers are two games back without the tiebreaker and all hope of making the postseason is effectively gone.

It really is that simple this week for a Packers team that has failed to find a way to earn a victory on the road at any point this season. The team’s 0-5 record away from Lambeau Field is littered with failed comeback attempts and close games that they could not put away. In fact, only two of those games had a margin of victory greater than eight points — 31-17 losses at Washington and New England — and one of those two was a tie game going into the fourth quarter.

On Sunday night, the Packers will face a familiar foe that has also struggled to find consistency. Still, the Vikings have by and large beaten the bad teams on their schedule and lost to the good ones, with one notable exception: an inexplicable 27-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills in week three. However, their other three defeats have come at the hands of NFC division leaders — the Rams, Saints, and Bears — while the teams they themselves have beaten have a combined 15-35 record this season.

Without further ado, here is your Game Primer for this critical contest as the Packers try to get back to .500 once again.
