College Football Conference Championships: Who makes the Playoff in 2018?

The final push for the College Football Playoff is here. Notre Dame is in — they went undefeated this season and as an independent they have no conference championship game to worry about. The rest of the teams in the top six, however, are in action this week, along with two more ranked between 8 and 11.

Thus, it all comes down to this weekend. The SEC has two teams in playoff position now, with Alabama ranked first and Georgia fourth. The winner in the rematch of last year’s National Championship Game gets in for sure; the only question would be whether Alabama could lose on Saturday and still land in the top four.

Clemson sits in second place and faces a Pittsburgh team that recently fell out of the rankings. Fifth-place Oklahoma faces #14 Texas in the Big XII title game, while Ohio State’s late-season surge has them in the running with a date against Northwestern in Indianapolis.

When the dust settles on Saturday night, we should have a pretty good idea of the four playoff participants, who will be announced officially on Sunday at noon Eastern. Tune in for all the games, and join us here at APC to discuss.

Note: all games are scheduled for Saturday, December 1st, unless otherwise noted.
