NFL Week 9 Sunday Schedule: Rams & Saints battle for top spot in NFC

The later games today have star power and playoff implications galore.

The Green Bay Packers move on to game two of their midseason gauntlet this evening, with a road game at the New England Patriots, but the Aaron Rodgers-Tom Brady matchup might be only the second-best game on the schedule today.

That’s because the top two teams in the NFC square off in a nationally-broadcast game this afternoon. The 8-0 Los Angeles Rams narrowly escaped their first loss last week against the Packers, but this week they travel to New Orleans to play the 6-1 Saints. This game could well determine a head-to-head tiebreaker for the top seed in the NFC when all is said and done, and it sets up to be an exceptional matchup between terrific offenses.

In the early slate, there’s an NFC North battle between the 4-3-1 Vikings and the 3-4 Lions that could keep shaking up the standings in the division. Meanwhile, the Bears get an early contest against a Bills team that is back to starting Nathan Peterman at quarterback, thanks to injuries to Josh Allen and Derek Anderson.
